And put them in a ziplock in the freezer.
You can then use these to make a soup broth for free without having to waste any new veggies! Just strain and chuck* the bits when you're done!
You can keep the broth in the freezer too, in a container you were going to have to throw away! Look at you, being so green! :) (This one actually has the left over "marinade" from my zucchinis. Its garlic, olive oil and spices, but the zucchinis give off some water too so you can totally use it as/with a broth!)
*A quick edit: Just strain and compost the bits when you are done! :)
freaking genius! I always hate throwing bits out!
ReplyDeleteActually Aunt Marie got me on this one! I burnt my first broth, lol. Chaim made the next one which was good, but he added a red pepper top so it was sweet. That was weird. But it comes out pretty well! Also I used to store in rubbermaids but I need them! lol.
ReplyDeleteawesome. i am also compostingggggggggggg!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous idea! I always feel so wasteful when I throw out pieces of veggies. YAY! I'm going to do this next time I am cutting up carrots and tomatoes! Thanks Cordy!
